Effects of Stenosis and Post Stenotic Dilatation on Jeffrey Fluid Flow in Arteries

چکیده
Abstract The steady flow of Jeffrey fluid through a tube with both constrictions and dilatations have been studied. The expressions for velocity, pressure drop, volumetric flow rate, resistance to the flow, wall shear stress have been derived by assuming that the stenosis is mild. It is found that the resistance to the flow increases with the height of the stenosis and decreases with post stenotic dilatation. The pressure drop, velocity and shear stress at the walls decrease with the height of stenosis and Jeffrey fluid parameter, but the same parameters increase with the post stenotic dilatation.

Impact of Blood Vessel Wall Flexibility on the Temperature and Concentration Dispersion
The analysis of solute and thermal dispersion in pulsatile flow through the stenotic tapered blood vessel is presented. The present problem is an extension of the work done by Ramana et al. who considered the time-invariant arterial wall. In the present model, the flexible nature of the arterial wall through the obstruction (called stenosis) is considered and it is achieved with the he...
متن کاملA Mathematical Model for Blood Flow Through Narrow Vessels with Mild-Stenosis (RESEARCH NOTE)
In this paper we examine the effect of mild stenosis on blood flow, in an irregular axisymmetric artery with oscillating pressure gradient. The Herschel-Bulkley fluid model has been utilized for this study. The combined influence of an asymmetric shape and surface irregularities of constriction has been explored in this computational study. An extensive quantitative analysis has been performed ...
متن کاملNewtonian and Non-Newtonian Blood Flow Simulation after Arterial Stenosis- Steady State and Pulsatile Approaches
Arterial stenosis, for example Atherosclerosis, is one of the most serious forms of arterial disease in the formation of which hemodynamic factors play a significant role. In the present study, a 3-D rigid carotid artery with axisymmetric stenosis with 75% reduction in cross-sectional area is considered. Laminar blood flow is assumed to have both Newtonian and non-Newtonian behavior (generalize...

متن کاملMelting Heat Transfer and Radiation Effects on Jeffrey Fluid Flow over a Continuously Moving Surface with a Parallel Free Stream
This article is proposed to address the melting heat transfer of a Jeffrey fluid in Blasius and Sakiadis flow caused due to a moving surface. Thermal radiation and a constant free stream are considered in this mathematical model. The non-linear coupled dimensionless equations from the governing equations are attained by employing appropriate similarity transformations. The resulting dimensionle...
